MSU Sea Grant Field Trip 2018         Image result for glep boat

Our boat trip is right around the corner on Monday, June rdh. Please remember that all students need to be at school by 7:45 am. All students must pack a disposable lunch and wear rubber-soled shoes or boots. Students must dress for the weather. Please keep in mind that because we will be out on the boat, temperatures may be 5-10 degrees colder than the forecasted temperatures.

If your child is not attending this trip, please let me know if he/she will be present at school that day so I can make arrangements.

Many thanks to the parents that expressed interest in chaperoning our MSU Sea Grant Boat Trip at Lake Erie Metropark. Unfortunately, limited chaperones are able to attend due to boat capacity. The following chaperones will be joining us on June 3rd:

Mrs. Ferguson
Mrs. Martinez
Mr. Marks
Chaperones, please send in your $15 as soon as possible. On the day of the trip, you may wish to bring a backpack to carry your lunch or other personal belongings. Also, please notify me whether you will be riding the bus or meeting us there. Please keep in mind that all students must ride the bus.
All permission slips and money are due May 24th.

Field Day

Field Day is a great opportunity for students to have fun with classmates and build teamwork through camaraderie. Participation in Field Day is also an opportunity open to responsible, respectful, and safe individuals. Students that continue to not have their work done in class will not be able to participate in Field Day.
Our Field Day is scheduled for Tuesday, June 4th, 1:15-3:00. Students MUST wear tennis shoes in order to participate safely in the planned events. Also, please be mindful that students should wear darker clothes that are unable to see through if they get wet.

Weekly Reading

Each week, your child is assigned reading material for the week. This assignment will be in the form of an electronic article using ReadWorks (login info is in your child’s planner) or an issue of Scholastic News. Your child is required to read and answer questions that are Common Core based. Similar questions will appear on the NWEA test. The electronic submission or separate questions worksheet is due by the following Thursday. All short answer questions MUST be answered in complete sentences and contain proper punctuation in order to earn credit. It is required that students mark text evidence for their answers in the issue of Scholastic News. This is a great comprehension strategy to verify accurate answers. If your child doesn’t submit or return the reading homework by Thursday, he/she will stay in from Friday Rewards to complete the assignment.
