English Language Arts
This week, students will focus on spelling, grammar, and writing skills. Spelling words and grammar will be assessed this Friday. Please note that students are provided individualized spelling lists for their test. Groups are determined according to a pre-assessment which allows a student to work at his/her ability while also being challenged. Please see your child’s paper copy to determine their assigned word group. Please use these words to complete the spelling contract located on the back of the Weekly Spelling assignment.
Every week (beginning on Saturday) our third graders have a goal of earning at least 2 trophies on Edmentum Reading. We work on this goal in the classroom, but not all students have it finished by the due date of the following Friday. Please ask your child throughout the week about their progress toward their 2 trophy goal. Trophies are earned when students do well on the Progress Check.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be on Wednesday, November 9th (5:00-7:30p.m.) and Thursday, November 10th (12:45-3:15p.m. & 5:00-7:30p.m.). Please sign up for only one conference time per child. Because conferences are scheduled in 15 minute increments, please be respectful of others and arrive on time.
If you are unable to attend conferences, please send a note or email to your child’s teacher notifying them that you will not be able to attend conferences.

Math
Please remember that mastery of multiplication and division facts is the goal for the end of third grade. The report card will be marked accordingly. Students should be completing a session of ReflexMath daily. We try to fit it in during the school day, but this is not always possible. Please remind your child after school in case it hasn’t been completed yet for the day. So far, here are the classroom stats:
Chromebook Policy
Please understand that we continue to have a district policy of educational use only with the district chromebooks. It seems that there is both student and parent use of the devices that is not solely for the purpose of school business. Please note that usage of chromebooks is monitored through our district filters, and we may be notified of any issues. Thank you for your help on this!
Guidelines for Cold Weather Gear
In an effort to keep our students safe and healthy, please plan to send your child to school with the following gear based on morning temperatures. Please keep in mind that we do have an outside recess in the morning when the temperatures are much chillier than later in the day.
