MSTEP Preparation

We are in the home stretch before MSTEP testing, so we are taking a break away from our normal routine. Students will continue to practice their test-taking skills while reviewing concepts from the entire school year. We are building stamina as well as independence, as teachers will be unable to assist students with any part of this state-wide assessment. Feel free to click on the link below to view the sample MSTEP questions. You may find it very eye opening to see what your child will be expected to do!

The testing schedule is as follows:

Tues., 4/30  Math MSTEP

Wed., 5/1  Math MSTEP

Tues. 5/7  ELA MSTEP

Wed., 5/8  ELA MSTEP

**MSTEP Homework Packet**

This homework assignment was sent home Friday, April 12th. Please stress the skills of reading the passages and looking back in the story to answer the questions. Thank you!

MSTEP Homework Packet #18 due 4/25/24

English Language Arts

This week we will focus on MSTEP Review (Writing skills/self-assessment using rubrics) and spelling. Using provided rubrics, students will score sample writings, and then the actual score will be revealed. This will reiterate the expectations we have been using all year. Also, using their spelling words, students will practice phonetic patterns each week. A spelling assessment will take place on Friday, April 26th.

**Edmentum**

Third grade’s focus is earning trophies as students navigate their individualized learning path. Students are encouraged to earn 2 trophies in the area of reading, 1 trophy in math, and 1 trophy in language arts. Trophies are earned by completing a Progress Check with 80% or higher. Students know how to check if they met their trophy goal.

Reflex Math

Please remember that mastery of multiplication and division facts is the goal for the end of third grade. The report card will be marked accordingly. Students should be completing a session of ReflexMath daily. We try to fit it in during the school day, but this is not always possible. Please remind your child after school in case it hasn’t been completed yet for the day. So far, here are the classroom stats:

Congratulations to Cody, Jolene, Alice, and Johnathan. They mastered their multiplication facts up to 12s and have earned their Prodigy login info to use after M. Way to go!
